Parenting Skillz

I've been loving having Tim around the house lately now that he is done with school. He was keeping an eye on Lily the other day while I was showering, and after I got out, this is what happened:

Me: How's my little girl doing?

Silence

Me: Tim?

Gurgle from Lily

Me: (a little louder) Tim?

Tim: Yeah, what?

Me: You were totally asleep!

Tim: What? No I wasn't!

Me: Yes you were! I can't believe it!

Tim: No I wasn't! I was just laying here...looking at Lily....

Me: While you were sleeping!

There's a Dr. in the House

Tim's parents came into town to celebrate Tim's graduation with us. We love having them around.

This was definitely a 3-part graduation extravaganza weekend. The first part was the hooding ceremony, which took place in the Gesu Church on Marquette's campus.

Part 2 was the Marquette graduation for all the students. This was the dental school section, going crazy with silly string and poppers when they were being recognized. Yes, those are teeth on top of their caps. Yes, that is an inflatable monkey.

Lily had the best seat in the house.

Puzzling over the inflatable monkey.

I'm not so hot at the whole "stick your arm out and take a picture" thing.

Part 3 was the dental school luncheon, where Tim was asked to welcome the guests and graduates and give a small speech. Here he is giving his speech when he is actually supposed to be giving a short welcome.

Woops!

When it was time for Tim's speech, he explained that he had already given it, and just hit the highlights.

Lily got tired of trying to keep everything straight and fell asleep in her daddy's arms instead.

Finally there was a little time for relaxing. These are two of Grandpa's biggest fans.

I love her little face...

Lest we forget why you read my blog (Alison, cover Eric's eyes)

Lily is almost 8 months! Dirk has been enjoying her more developed palate as evidenced by:
1.) Jars of baby food that were originally placed in the recycling bin have been finding their way out of the recycling bin. When found they are spotlessly clean.
2.) Biter biscuits disappear right out of Lily's hands moments after I give them to her. Tim observed a certain lightning-fast 100 lb Weimeraner putting both paws on the highchair in order to snag said biscuits.
3.) A general increase in obnoxious begging that makes me feel homicidal. Our kitchen is small enough without an enormous dog at my elbow every time I prepare food.

Tim and Sara at the Movies

Standing in front of the automated ticket machine at the theatre.

Tim: This thing isn't working.

Me: That's because you're doing it wrong (turns card over).

Tim: (laughs) Haha, yeah, actually I'm graduating dental school, but I can't work the ticket machine.

Me: Yeah, your teeth will be fine, I just finished 25th grade.

Tim: Stand back, I'm a doctor.

Dental School Detritus

This is what our bathroom counter looks like now that Tim has cleaned out his dental school locker.

It's really happening. This weekend Tim is really graduating from four years of dental school.

(This is Tim's favorite pose for all forms of ID, and will probably lead to a problematic arrest someday.)

So make sure you are brushing and flossing regularly.

And if you don't want to do that and have some money you'd like to burn, please do come and see Dr. Tim in Albuquerque.

I am an auntie again!

On May 14th, my new little niece came into the world! This is little Ghitta Gallo. I wish I were in California so I could hold her and give her some kisses! Congratulations to Chris and Cindy, I can't believe my brother is a daddy. She looks so sweet and beautiful. I just can't wait to meet her.

Me and My Dog

This is my doggy, Dirk. He is my buddy and protector. I look for him and my toys when I wake up. I like it when he licks my hands when I reach for him. Now that I can sit up he is pretty much by my side for most of the day.

Best Five Years of My Life

On April 30th we celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary! This is us at a recent 80s themed dinner party (thank you Irion's for the last minute costumes that we would otherwise have been too lazy to procure for ourselves).

L-o-v-e that guy...especially in a blonde mullet wig.
