Next Time I Will Pay Someone to Detail My Car

Yesterday I spent Lily's precious nap time vacuuming my car, cleaning the windows, and wiping it down with Armor All. Heaven help us if we bring home a new baby in a car with dog hair and gravel all over it. Things were going well. I was staying hydrated (keep in mind I was doing this in our open garage, and it was around 95 degrees). I was mostly occupied in a phone conversation so things were moving along. The tricky part was when I needed to clean the back hatchback window.

So we have a Ford Flex. It's a sweet ride. I was totally resigned to getting a minivan but Tim convinced me otherwise. We keep the last row of two seats folded down and that's where Dirk goes, so of course there's dog nose slobber all over the back windows.

I (ahem, gracefully) crawl in the back and press the automatic button that closes the hatchback so I can get the back window. Then when I'm done, I press the button. And the door does not open. And I can't reach the lever to push the other seat down to get me to the middle row. So the only option is climbing over the 2nd row seats (again, gracefully) and I'm a little unsure about the available clearance between the seats and the ceiling, what with my belly and all. Luckily (!) I made it out alive and I am pretty convinced that if that little acrobatic act didn't put me into labor, nothing will.

My friend Kristie's response: "I would have paid money to see that." Well so would I.

My Thoughts On Current Events

Tim: Bear [that's me], Weiner's going to rehab!
Me: (eye roll) Sex rehab?
Tim: Yep.
Me: My favorite.
Tim: He just really needs some help and support, you know?
Me: Also he should change his last name.

Sometimes I Forget People Read This

I mean, except people that I know and that comment. So it's always really flattering when other people I don't know read my blog and tell me they enjoy it. This just happened to me with sweet Mary from The Good Life. She knows Tim from way back when and checked out our blog. Her blog is super entertaining and I am so happy to have made a blog friend. I feel the blog has been sorely neglected as of late, but I have lots of good excuses, don't worry.

Reason #1: Sleep Deprivation and General Grumpiness
What, you say? But you haven't had your baby yet! No, but my other baby has decided to wake up a bunch at night. Teething? Maybe. Poopy diaper + rash at oh-dark-thirty last night? Yes please! Changing a poopy diaper in the middle of the night on a screaming, thrashing toddler while under the influence of your nightly sleeping pill is a little tricky. Tim was my helpful assistant in this operation. "I need a little more light." "Can you get me a warm washcloth?" Luckily we got poor little Lily squared away and more comfortable pretty quickly, and I got some sweet cuddling time with her, which I do love. Unfortunately it then took me forever to get back to sleep thanks to these super awesome bladder spasms I've been getting. Add the general discomfort of being uber-pregnant to Lily waking up more often and you've got a grumpy bear.

Reason #2: The Photo Project That Consumed My Life (And Many of My Dollars)
Which, I am delighted to say, is DONE. I printed out all of our digital pictures from the last seven years, organized them chronologically, and got them into albums. I haven't written in dates, times, and names yet; that will be a work in progress.

Reason #3: The Baby's Room
Also, for the most part, DONE. Ok, maybe there aren't any decorations on the walls, but all of her clothes are washed and put away, I've got some diapers, and the crib is up. It'll be a work in progress as well. Sorry, 2nd child. Also, if you're daddy really loved you, he'd finish painting your changing table. Just saying...

Reason #4: It's Summer!
I am enjoying having a toddler in nice weather. We go to the park, we do sidewalk chalk, we go to the pool, it's awesome. Lily can do so much more than she could last summer, and I'm taking advantage of this fun stage and our one-nap-a-day schedule while we have it. She is talking up a storm and soaks up everything we teach her. I love it.

Soon I will have Reason #5: I'm Recovering From Having a Baby and Am a Hormonal Mess. :) Counting down, I am now 17 days from my due date. Seeing as how I went a week over with Lily I don't have much hope for this little girl coming anytime soon, but that's alright, me and my bladder spasms will keep pressing on.

New Family Pictures

We needed some updated pictures for marketing for Tim's practice and for his practice website (http://smilesabq.com/) so we had some taken on April 30th. Lily is going to have her own spot on the website called "Lily's Tips for Tots" with advice on caring for children's teeth and there will also be a maternity spot with advice on oral care during pregnancy, so I got to be the model for that. Frank Frost Photography did an amazing job, especially with getting some smiling ones of Lily that we will always treasure. Enjoy!
