The 'stache

Tim is growing out a mustache again. Tim knows I hate the mustache. Tim continues to grow the mustache. The following conversation ensues:

Tim: Bear [this is me if you didn't know], today someone totally said to me, "Hey Tim, that mustache makes you look like a rancher [this is his idea of convincing me that the mustache is cool]".

Me: I'll need that person's name and phone number to confirm.

Tim: What? No, I don't know what their name was.

Me: Sorry then I don't buy it. Never happened.

Tim: Dirk likes my mustache.

Me: Dirk also likes to sniff butts.

Tim: Yeah, so?

Me: And lick his own weiner.

Tim: He might be onto something there.

Getting closer...

This was taken at church a couple of weeks ago. I'm due September 23rd, Chelsea is due first week in October, and Jess is due first week in November. AND ALL OF OUR BABIES ARE GOING TO BE BEST FRIENDS, of course.

Just in case you needed another angle to appreciate my enormity. I totally thought dresses were going to be the way to go when pregnant, and they are really easy and comfortable, but I swear they make me look 10 times bigger. Guess what? I don't really care anymore.

Dear, dear Mary Esther

Meet my two favorite people in Florida, Mr. and Mrs. Boone.

Nathan is an Air Force pilot, and Erin is in the Air Force as well and just got home from Baghdad. To celebrate her safe return and the fact that she is now the only proud home owner among us, we congregated at her lovely place in Mary Esther, Florida. Alex, Carla, Erin and I have been close friends since high school. Just say when you've seen enough pictures of me pregnant in a bathing suit on my blog.

I wish I had pictures of Erin's beautiful home, because I'm pretty sure they could be submitted to a design magazine. It was so awesome to see that yes, as we predicted in high school, she has bloomed into Martha Stewart - except that she's nicer, more fun, and less inclined to commit white collar crimes. She fed us oh-so-well.

I would have also loved to take pictures of the plane that Nathan flies, and is actually now flying in Baghdad, the AC-130. He kindly took us three girls on a tour while Erin was working and showed us all of the guns and special equipment, including the toilet on board. Nathan wasn't sure that taking pictures was good for national security, so we obliged.

I did however take a picture of Carla and this drunk young man that came to hit on us while we were in Pensacola for an air show. We tried to convince him that we were, a) married b) married & knocked up c) taken and d) definitely not into white boys, but he was very drunk, and therefore persistent. Plus, Erin gave him one of our strawberries. Good one, Erin.

The Blue Angels were mighty impressive.

Carla caught one of the many frogs that like to hang out on Erin's back windows in the evening.

It was a fabulous girls weekend, and everyone took such good care of me and baby, which I really appreciated. This included Nathan, who did not grumble once when he had to pull over in bumper to bumper traffic on the way to the air show so that I didn't lose bladder control. Love to you, Boones!

Big talker

I solemnly promise to properly update the blog, and even provide a recent pregnancy picture (I'm 31 weeks this week!) but first I have to get some pictures off my camera.

Before I do that, I want to share some things that are fun and not fun:

Fun: When the VA hospital has an emergency drill power outage from 7 am to 11 am. This means that there's only light in "essential" hospital areas because we're running on emergency power only. Which translates into a guy that sits in a chair next to the bathrooms and hands you a flashlight before you go in. Ha! Also it meant I couldn't write my notes this morning, which I was ok with.

Not Fun: When because of said power outage you automatically assume that the elevators are not running and hike up 9 FLIGHTS OF MUGGY, NON-AIR CONDITIONED STAIRS. Only to be laughed at by your coworkers when you arrive to your morning meeting, sweating like a pig, because they all took the elevators. Oh and be told that you "look a little peaked" by a nurse. Um yeah possibly because I'm almost 8 months pregnant and I just climbed a billion stairs. Tim didn't believe that that was a word but here's the definition for you.

Blog you later.

O say can you see...

By the dawn's early light, at 2:30 am on Friday, July 3rd, Tim's sister Ashleigh and her husband Kyle graced us with their patriotic presence.

There were multiple bike rides for the boys...

wherein energy drinks were consumed...

wherein we thought it would be a good idea for me and Ashleigh to share the back seat in the Corolla with Dirk for an hour drive each way (Dirk's face says it all)...

wherein there was a huge crash that luckily neither of them were in...no pics of that, sorry.

Going to the Safehouse, a spy-themed restaurant was a must...

Playing in the trick mirror is so much more fun/depressing when you're pregnant...

We found the secret exit...

and Kyle got really scared...

but we made it out alive...

Frozen custard is quite possibly one of the best things about Wisconsin.

Dirk cried when they left. You would too.

Raw food diet

My mom and stepdad are doing the raw food diet. I was trying to explain what it is to my Wisconsin coworkers.

"They eat only foods that are raw, and they don't eat any meat."

"What?"

"How does that taste good?"

"People really do that?"

"Yeah, there's even restaurants in California where they serve only raw food."

"Well, I believe there's places like that, in Cal-i-for-nia."

"Why would you pay three times as much for food that isn't even cooked?"

I couldn't really answer that question.
